COMMUNITY UPDATE
Dear Pride PEI Members,
Before providing an update on what the Board of Directors has been working on, we would like to begin by sending out well wishes to those still recovering from the devastating impact of Hurricane Fiona. A number of relief supports are now available, with information on how to access them online at princeedwardisland.ca/stormresponse. If you, or anyone you know, need help accessing supports, please reach out at info@pridepei.ca.
As our term comes to an end, it remains a busy time for our team. The 2022 PEI Pride Festival was a huge success thanks to the support of our various community partners, dedicated team of volunteers, and of course, each and every one of you! We will have a full report on the Festival’s activities and feedback received available on our website in the coming weeks.
We are also able to announce more details on our upcoming 2022 Annual General Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 at 6:30 PM via Zoom Teleconference. All members of Pride PEI Inc. will be eligible to attend the AGM. Please sign up, or renew your annual membership at www.pridepei.ca/getinvolved to receive information on how to participate.
Our Treasurer, Laura MacDonald has been working tirelessly with our accountants, Arsenault Best Cameron Ellis, to prepare Audited Financial Statements for both the 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 operational years. While we are hoping to have these available at the AGM, if there is a delay, we will communicate this to the new Directors so they can make these reports available to our membership as soon as they are completed.
Now we need your help! Pride PEI is looking for two dedicated volunteers to support the upcoming Pride PEI Board of Directors elections! The roles include Chief Returning Officer (1), and Scrutineer (1) on our Nominations Committee. Their responsibilities will be to review applications for Board of Director positions, and oversee a fair & transparent voting process.
